Today’s episode of the Mercedium Stretch features Toronto jazz musician, saxophonist, and bandleader Lazar Miric. Earlier this year Lazar put out his solo project Standards+ which reimagines jazz classics with 21st century electronic production. He also put out a self-titled project with his band Lavender Town which preforms original compositions as well as covers from hip-hop and video games. The 20th episode of the Mercedium Stretch features drummer and bandleader of Queen Kong, Lorie Wolf. An expert in Klezmer; Jewish folk music originating from Eastern Europe, Lorie explains the history behind the music which includes its revival in the 1970s. Born in Brazil and raised in Peru, julzzz moved to Ottawa for University and has since released a slew of groovy R&B tracks, which draw influence from her unique upbringing. We speak about his viral beat battle victory, designing sounds for a speaker system, as well as the role of producers in todays music industry. This episode of the Mercedium Stretch features singer songwriter Dayna Shereck, who has been penning country songs in both Toronto and Nashville for the last decade. Inspired simply by the melodies in her head, Dayna began to write music with no formal background and has since released many tracks of her own. She speaks about her love of songwriting and shares with us a song from an upcoming Americana album, set to be released sometime in the future.
